ProTrials Establishes New Subsidiary in United Kingdom to Strengthen Business Operations in Europe

ProTrials Global Limited to coordinate increasing demand for multi-national clinical trials

Sunnyvale, CA – January 23, 2012 –ProTrials Research ™, Inc. (www.protrials.com), a leader in the clinical research organization (CRO) industry, today announced the creation of a wholly owned subsidiary to help meet its sponsors’ increasing needs for multi-national, multi-site clinical trials.  Based in the United Kingdom, ProTrials Global Limited will help manage ongoing clinical trials in Italy, Spain and the U.K., and will be responsible for additional growth in the European arena.

Gillian Reid, the company’s newly appointed director of business operations, Europe, will manage ProTrials Global Limited.  With more than 25 years of clinical research experience, Reid is highly regarded for her past work with companies such as Charles River Laboratories, Inveresk Research, Napp Laboratories and Merck Sharp & Dohme.  Most recently, she was the director of global key accounts for Chiltern International UK.  She holds a bachelors of science degree in biochemistry with honors from Edinburgh University.

“We’ve found the right person in Gillian to help us take this important step forward in our commitment to always bring senior level involvement, high customer service and impeccable data quality to clinical research,” said Jodi Andrews, co-founder and CEO of ProTrials.  “With our increasing business in Europe, we needed a skilled senior manager who could manage our projects there as well as further develop new clients and our global employee pool – all while helping us to maintain our high standards as we grow.”

Late last year, industry research firm Frost & Sullivan projected that the global CRO market had resumed its upward growth trajectory and was on target to reach revenues of $43.09 billion by 2017.  The demand for global clinical trials is being driven by potential access to a diverse and large untapped patient population.

“With ProTrials Global Limited based in the United Kingdom, we are in a stronger position to help sponsors simultaneously conduct clinical trials in North America and Europe, and to guide them in the different complexities for conducting clinical research abroad,” Andrews said.

ProTrials Named a Top Silicon Valley Women-Owned Business

ProTrials earns accolade for consecutive year revenue growth

Sunnyvale, CA – November 14, 2011 – ProTrials Research Inc., a leader in the clinical research organization industry, has been recognized as one of the area’s top 25 women-owned businesses by the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal.   Its 14th ranking is particularly significant in a time marked by recession issues, since businesses on the list either generated solid revenue or held steady in revenue growth.  Additionally, a recent report by American Express noted that California has more women-owned businesses than any other state in the union – and ProTrials is the only women-owned and operated CRO in the state.

The Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal list of the top 25 women-owned businesses ranks area public and private women-owned companies according to revenue. Founded by Jodi Andrews and Inger Arum, ProTrials has repeatedly been selected for the list and continues to be one of only a few women-owned and operated CROs worldwide.

“It’s particularly gratifying to receive this recognition at the end of our 15th anniversary year,” Andrews said.  “We’ve achieved several milestones in 2011, including the expansion and relocation of our headquarters to Sunnyvale, an increase in business in Europe and the addition of a dozen new clients.  We are grateful to our sponsors and attribute our success on their behalf to a continued focus on service, quality and experience.”

ProTrials Research Celebrates 15 Years

In 1996, Jodi Andrews and Inger Arum had a vision: to build a clinical research organization (CRO) that could deliver personalized service and high quality data within an environment that achieves a work/life balance and eco-sensitivity. Both experienced clinical researchers, they knew the key to achieving their vision was to collaborate with other highly trained professionals. And so, from its inception, ProTrials Research, Inc. has offered a top-notch team of research specialists, each with one of the industry’s highest average lengths of experience. Just as importantly, the ProTrials team collectively works toward mitigating their sponsors’ risk of potentially losing millions of dollars by producing the best, reliable data on time and on budget.

From the start, ProTrials has kept a vigilant eye on its core values – excellence, collaboration, integrity, promise, community and balance. In the early years, as it worked hard to gain a reputation as a trusted partner for clinical research management, it landed a series of Phase 3 immunology studies. One was a high profile, international study for a groundbreaking HIV vaccine, and its successful completion solidified ProTrials’ name as being synonymous with excellence.

Today, ProTrials offers a comprehensive suite of services and global support for Phase 1 – 4 clinical trials to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device markets within a broad range of therapeutic areas, including oncology, cardiology, ophthalmology, infectious diseases and neurosciences. ProTrials has successfully completed over 300 studies to date, ranging from small investigational trials to large, multi-site studies involving thousands of patients. Its more than 85 employees average 15 years of industry experience; the company’s over 90 percent employment retention rate, one of the highest for any CRO, gives sponsors the assurance that teams will remain in place for the duration of their studies.
